MY STORY

My name is Sarjan, I have worked in mental health settings for over a decade.

I grew up in a working-class South Asian background, and that has shaped how I understand people and the worlds they live in. I learned early that life can be hard in ways that aren’t always visible, and that context e.g. culture, family, class, beliefs and relationships — matters deeply. I’ve spent time, and continue to make space to reflect on my own early experiences in personal therapy, because I believe this work asks something of us as practitioners too.

As a Clinical Psychologist, I believe that trust and developing a sense of safeness in the therapy space is what allows anything meaningful and long‑lasting to take place. Over the years, I’ve seen how powerful it can be to support someone to turn towards difficult thoughts and emotions with curiosity. To understand what they are signaling, to make sense of their early roots, and to start making choices that align with the life someone wants to live.

My commitment to people also shapes my work with systems and professionals. I care about how teams, organisations, and individuals make sense of the emotional weight they carry, and I am drawn to creating spaces where people can slow down, reflect and feel supported in the work they do.
